Painting Day & Pop-Up Exhibition

Yesterday was the Day of Fine Arts (Kuvataiteen päivä) here in Finland to celebrate the birthday of Finnish painter, Helene Schjerfbeck.

I participated in a water colour painting event that was organized around Helsinki. Our group went to Seurasaari Island to paint the sceneries there. It was a nice and sunny day and my first time painting with watercolors outdoors. :)

After spending the day out painting our pieces were hung up at a pop-up gallery in the center of Helsinki. A huge portion of the sales of the paintings will go to support the construction of a new children’s hospital. My work included. :)

Below are some pictures from the event.

The event was also mentioned on Yle’s morning TV (in Finnish):

About Micke Nikander

Hi! I'm a graphic designer and artist from Finland. I like creating pictures from scratch as much as documenting the wonders of the world through a lens. No, actually I like drawing more.. :) -Micke
